Quite a nice hideaway. Exactly what we were looking for! Very quaint and lots of interesting history about the residence. We would recommend!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our eclipse stay. This is a beautiful cabin in a peaceful lovely area. While I wouldn't say it's toddler friendly, our 4yo and 15mo old had a great time playing outside and on the deck with the hot tub. We put all the breakable items up high and blocked the stairs and gas fireplace, and it worked well for our family. We would love to come back some day!

The Schoolhouse is definitely secluded. It was a little further away than we anticipated, but had everything you need. Fresh water and even farm fresh eggs were provided, which made for a warm welcome. Be aware the staircase is narrow, but the bedrooms are so quaint and everything is adorably decorated. Sit back in the hot tub or on the porch and listen to the birds chatter, and enjoy this little beauty in nature.

"Cozy & Comfy"

The schoolhouse was comfy and cozy. We loved the relaxing decor and warm fireplace. Our only regret was not staying longer.

Great attention to details that make you feel at home. We loved the private, rural setting, and our mini schnauzer felt at home immediately. The schoolhouse was very clean and charming. It it just a short drive to Nashville, but we loved just being here enjoying the surroundings. The hot tub was ready and welcoming when we arrived. It was an excellent choice to celebrate my husband's birthday!

A beautiful, quaint, private escape with a short scenic drive into town. Comfortable beds, hot showers, warm and toasty fireplace. Dark nights full of stars and a nice and cozy hot tub! We loved our stay at the schoolhouse. Marisa was attentive and super quick to respond to all our needs and questions. We had a wonderful trip!

The 1891 Schoolhouse Inn was charming, comfortable, and in a beautiful location. The story being the place was interesting and the schoolhouse is thoughtfully decorated to match the story. The kitchen is well supplied and very functional. The beds and furniture were comfortable. The hot tub was a fun place to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The peaceful tree covered hilltop is an enchanting and serine location. We enjoyed the short drive to Nashville to experience the dining and quant charm of the town. We would love to visit again!

It was just what me and my wife needed!! We rent a cabin every Christmas, this year we went with a different style place!! It was amazing!!

It is a beautiful place to stay. Feels like home. Wonderfully decorated for the holidays. My Husband was delighted on how well the kitchen was supplied for anything you wanted to cook. If we wanted to go do some shopping it was just a small drive to Nashville. The hot tub as enjoyed after the day of walking and shopping. We will be making a return visit. It was an enjoyable and relaxing couple of days.

Our second stay in a different season, and lovely as ever. It has been decorated with just the right touch of each season which makes it even more special when you come back, not to mention the little goodies awaiting your arrival is a thoughtful touch. The soaps and shampoos in the shower are always nice. A beautiful place to stay to relax and get away from it all. Marisa is so kind and helpful whenever you have a question. Would recommend this place to anyone.

We all agree that this is our favorite airbnb. It was perfect for us, 3 adults and one dog. The Schoolhouse Inn is a beautiful, extremely clean, comfortable and quiet space with all the special touches....fully stocked kitchen and bathroom, dog dishes, special sweet treats for us, games, books and everything else we needed to feel comfortable. The Christmas decorations were an extra special touch that made us feel the magic of the season, cozy and comfortable. Only issue was a cold hot tub and I only mention it because it was attended to and fixed right away. Marisa's communication was quick and attentive. We really could not have asked for a better stay and hope to return again sometime.

Absolutely loved this property and the management team! They were great to work with, communicated effectively, and definitely have more to offer than the pictures. Perfect little cabin, decorated and fitted for a lovely, intimate weekend for my girlfriend’s birthday. Loved the amenities and provisions the host provided and greatly appreciated all they did to make this a wonderful stay. Absolutely looking forward to staying there again! Highly recommend!!!

Very quaint and relaxing place. The history of the place was evident with tasteful updates to make it a great stay.

The schoolhouse is the cutest spot-comfy, in a beautiful spot overlooking some great Brown County views. Decorated so sweet for Christmas with a lot of vintage decor. Very roomy downstairs with comfortable furnishings. The kitchen and grill are great-bring your basic cooking ingredients but all of the utensils and cookware are there. The stairs are very narrow to get to the two bedrooms upstairs, just to keep in mind. Small but cozy and comfortable hot tub on the back porch. Host was very helpful and flexible. Great spot, out a ways but not too far from town (15 min or less to downtown Nashville, but worth the drive!). Can't wait to go back during another season, as well!

Nice get away!

We loved our weekend stay at the 1891 Schoolhouse Inn! We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary in beautiful peace and quiet! The property and home is so cozy and inviting! The host was very kind and responsive! We spent our Saturday walking around Nashville, enjoying all the shops and wonderful restraunts. Thank you Marisa for providing a fantastic getaway!

What a lovely place to stay, the location and surroundings were beautiful in October. Our favorite aunt from England was with us and she was delighted as well. A quiet and restful get-a-way but it's the little things that stand out the most..... cold water in fridge, a few drinks, a bottle of wine, delicious pastries, soft sheets, Neutrogena Rain Bath, Fairtrade shampoo and conditioner and the sweetest of all was the doggie treats and bowls along with a doggie towel for their feet. All the pots, pans, silverware and more. A lovely primitive decor with schoolhouse touches was delightful. We can't say enough about how welcoming this place is. We have already booked another stay around Christmas.

It was the perfect stay for a short get away!

Beautifully restored historic schoolhouse with a cozy vibe. We felt right at home and enjoyed a long weekend exploring nearby Nashville, IN, and Brown County State Park, and relaxing outside by the fire pit. All the amenities of a well-stocked home, comfortable beds, great water pressure, and all the peace and quiet. It was the perfect backdrop to a perfect girls' weekend.

Everything was delightful!! The house is cozy and just far enough away from the noise that you can hear only nature but still easily access Nashville. The home is stocked with everything you need!!

The property is perfect to enjoy some "down time." The location is secluded and quiet. We enjoyed everything about our stay. We spent some time shopping in nearby Nashville. The shops and local artesians were amazing and the food was good. I would definitely recommend the property.

The stay was very nice with the entire house being clean and tidy. The host also responded with minutes with the 2 questions I presented to her.

Really a great place to enjoy a pretty stay inside and out with charm and history. We just loved it.

It was a huge bonus being able to bring our pups along. They felt just at home as we did. Would definitely visit again down the road.

"Perfect anniversary getaway"

This property was charming and clean, with tons of attention to the little details. My husband and I visited for a couple of days to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. The location was remote enough to allow for quiet relaxation, but close enough to Brown County State Park and Nashville to make it easy to run out to grab breakfast, go shopping, or explore the park. I love old buildings, antiques, and spending time away from the city. When I saw this listing, it looked like a perfect place to relax and recharge. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there - and it was such a delight be able to unwind in a rural setting. The old school had such a charming atmosphere. When we arrived there were sweet treats available and it was clean and tidy. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature, this is a great place to stay.

This is a great place to unwind - Marisa has thought of everthing, from the robe for the hot tub, to the refrigerated water and a welcome gift. This sweet school house is the perfect get away. Very comfortable, lots of room to spend time with friends, inside and out.... and the bed was amazing - (was tempted to try and sneak the mattress down the stairs). Fully stocked kitchen; I had a little trouble trying to find local/area news, so perhaps a channel guide? Close proximity to Nashville which was SO fun, and Brown County State park is amazing. Local (Morgantown IGA) grocery is closed for renovations? but Martinsville is close enough with a Walmart super center. Thank you Marisa for opening up this great getaway spot for others!

"Great Unique Getaway"

The schoolhouse provides such a unique experience if you're seeking peace and restoration while still having television and wifi. All amenities were provided and it felt very cozy. The bedroom windows face east so you can lay in bed and watch the sunrise. It's about a 15 minute drive to Nashville which wasn't bad once you learn which roads to take and which ones not to. We really enjoyed our stay here.

A charming and well-appointed respite. Fully furnished, all amenities exactly as described, friendly host. Gorgeous setting.

What a treat to retreat to a wonderfully converted 150 year-old schoolhouse. All the charm and warmth of the original, with modern upgrades.

Finding local wine and a box of seasonal pastries upon arrival was a plus.

This is such a great place. It is beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed (towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, ironing board, coffee maker, coffee, tea). The hot tub was wonderful as was the fire pit. The inside was so cozy with the fireplace and comfortable furniture. We were way off the beaten path but 20-30 from everything. The drives were just beautiful! Marisa was very easy to work with and responded immediately when we had a question. Do not hesitate to stay here.

Wonderful location and very cozy! It feels very secluded from the hustle and bustle of Nashville but is only a short car ride away. The school house was wonderfully decorated for fall and really added to the aesthetic. And of course, the hot tub is nice! Would definitely stay again!

The house was just as it is described and how it looks in the pictures. We had a relaxing time and enjoyed the hot tub. The furniture and beds were super comfy. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. Our dog also enjoyed her stay and the organic dog treats that Marissa left for her.

We are back from our second visit at the Schoolhouse! It is so peaceful, clean, and perfectly styled. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans for staying in with a home cooked meal, and we loved cozying up by the fireplace! We hardly left at all to go other places in Brown County because it’s just so lovely there.

This quaint little schoolhouse was such a find! The decor is spot on and provides a homey inviting feel. The kitchen has everything you need. The schoolhouse is tucked into a woodland haven. All the daffodils sprouting on the grounds were so beautiful. The fire pit is perfect. Such an amazing find for a weekend girls trip.

This is such a cute, charming place to stay! It’s such a unique home, you definitely won’t find a place like this just anywhere. My husband and I booked this place for a quick weekend getaway before our second baby is born, and it was so nice. It’s secluded and private but easy to get to, and the drive was beautiful. The house is beautifully decorated for fall and had tons of games to choose from! My husband and I spent our last night there playing card games by the fire, and it was so relaxing. The beds were very comfortable, but being 9 months pregnant, I couldn’t handle sleeping flat for health reasons, so I ended up in the recliner our second night, which was also super comfortable! I will say the ceilings in the kitchen and bathroom are a bit low, so my 6’4” husband did have to watch his head a bit, but otherwise no complaints. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, she had a cold pitcher of water in the fridge for us along with a full setup for coffee, and it was very well kept and clean when we arrived. Owner was also very responsive and kind anytime we contacted her. Would absolutely stay here again!

Everything about the Schoolhouse Inn was as reviewed by others and as we expected. We had an enjoyable and relaxing stay. Our golden retriever had a ball. The seasonal decor was a surprise and delightful. Please note that the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms are quite steep and may be difficult for the physically challenged. But there is a sofa that easily sleeps one. Regardless, we highly recommend.

We loved staying here! The birds and butterflies were great company. We had everything we needed and more on our trip to hike around brown county SP.

Felt very secluded but not a bad drive to Bloomington, Nashville or Columbus for a day drip. For future guests, heads up that the stairs are quite steep and the ceiling height in the bathroom and kitchen are low. We are a short family, so no issues, but could see taller guests feeling differently. Also be prepared for windy roads and a steep gravel road up the the house. Enjoyed our stay and quick dip in the hot tub!

The Schoolhouse Inn is definitely a great place to stay during our visit to Nashville. I loved all the small details, which made it feel like home. This schoolhouse was AMAZING. Due to both of our jobs, my new husband and I were only able to do a weekend trip for our honeymoon. This schoolhouse offered exactly what we were looking for. It's in a beautiful location-very secluded and quiet. We enjoyed the hot tub, sitting out by the fire pit, and on the back porch. Its very spacious inside and decorated so well! We were also able to travel to Nashville easily in 15 minutes for some shopping, restaurants and hiking at Brown County Park. Marisa was very good with communication and offered a lot of little touches like coffee, wine, and other essentials such as first aid kits and cooking utensils! We would 100% stay here again!

I’m not even sure where to begin. My wife and I usually go to a couple Airbnb’s per year and this is easily on the top of our list. It is everything you could ask for to getaway for a weekend. There are small touches scattered throughout the schoolhouse that make your stay feel so special. The entire place was extremely clean, the furniture was super comfortable, and the area is just beyond beautiful. If you love scenic drives and feeling cozy, this is perfect for you. I cannot say enough about how amazing this place is. There is also plenty to do in the area (Nashville and several State Parks are within quick driving distance). If you are thinking about staying here, book it... just do it.

“The Schoolhouse Inn was the perfect setup for a quick social distancing getaway. We enjoyed how cozy the space was and that it was pet friendly. It was a bit chilly for May but that meant we got to read a book by the cute fireplace, so no complaints! The small covered front porch was great for some rainy morning coffee and the grill and hot tub were great for an evening in. Location was easy to find and easy to get around. Marisa was quick the response to any questions we had. We have already told our friends about the Schoolhouse!”

"The Schoolhouse Inn is a Magnificent Getaway!"

My daughter and I went to spend a little mother/daughter time celebrating her 17th birthday and it was exactly what we wanted. The house was beautifully decorated and perfectly clean. The host really goes a step above by providing little touches of kindness throughout, such as nice, fluffy, soft towels, bathrobes for the hot tub, high quality paper products (hey, that’s important to me!) and so many more! It’s just the little things when you look around and say “hey look, they have _____” and suddenly it makes you feel at home. I cannot wait until we can plan another long weekend to stay again when everything opens back up. Yes, we did come right at the peak of COVID-19!! It was a nice way to get out of our own house for a while and hit the Yellowwood State Park trails for some fresh air and nature which are very close!! Let me say this very quickly. We are from Knoxville, TN but have lived in Central Indiana for almost 2 years now. Being from Knoxville we were only about an hour or so from Gatlinburg. We have stayed in countless cabins over the years so you could say I have quite a bit of experience. By comparison, the Schoolhouse Inn has been the best I’ve ever stayed in-hands down. Again, the special touches make you feel at home and almost as if family has been there and was expecting you. You can’t beat that. Have fun y’all!! Until next time!

My mom and I always visit Brown County for a getaway each year and ever since we’ve stayed in the school house it’s the ONLY place we will stay at when we visit. The location is so private and beautiful, the school house itself is so so so cozy. Wake up and open the windows, make some coffee, and enjoy the fireplace. The beds are SO comfortable, everything is so clean and it always feels like home. It’s so hard to leave!

Having the two luxurious leather recliners in the living area is always delightful so that each of us can have our own comfortable space, and the sizable bathroom and kitchen (compared to most cottages) is a definite plus for us. Far enough from town that you can get a genuine feeling of nature, but close enough to drive in for lunch and shopping. A wonderful, well-appointed space!
